Rüdesheim has developed since the late 19th C. into one of the busiest tourist and holiday centers on the Middle Rhine, with a host of friendly restaurants, particularly in the famous Drosselgasse. In the 10th C. Brömserburg is the Rheingau Museum and there are remains of two other castles, the Boosenburg (originally 10th C.) and the Vorderburg, and numerous old burghers' houses and aristocratic mansions (16th-18th centuries). In the Brömserhof is a collection of mechanical musical instruments (open April-October).
